Jo Kley

Artist background: Jo Kley completed his study of Fine Arts in sculpture at Muthesius School of Fine Arts in Kiel, Germany under the Professor Jan Koblasa. Since 2007 Kley has been studying towards his Doctoral Degree in Liberal Arts at the University of Pecs, Hungary.

Since 1992, Kley participated in more than 70 single and group exhibitions and has won several art competitions and received many awards for his work. More than 50 large-scale sculptures are located in 18 countries worldwide and are property of companies, municipalities, banks, museums and private collections.

He is well know in the International Circuit of Sculpture Symposia as a regular attendee since 1992 in Germany, Italy, Egypt, Brasil, Japan, Turkey, Belgium, Spain, Norway, South Korea, France and Syria.

The piece proposed for ADISS Symposium 2010 is a monumental scale spiral form used as a Universal plot of nature appearing in all dimensions. In the order of microscopic to small scale, it occurs as optimal package of the genetic information, as spirillia shaped bacteria, snail-shell or in the head of a sunflower. The spiral form is also a sacred symbol in ancient cultures used as icon for the genesis and the universe.
